Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search box is sent to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies its own results. Pamlico County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or direct message may be retained long enough to respond and manage the correspondence. It remains within the operating team unless disclosure is required by a valid legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
Normal server logs collect limited technical details when a page loads:
- Page-view timestamps
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- Device IP address
- Referring website, when one is supplied
- Pages opened and the time spent on them
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small device files that help measure visits, popular pages, and navigation patterns. Analytics providers combine that traffic into broader performance reports. A browser can reject or remove cookies, though a blocked cookie may change how some features behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search request to the selected outside provider
- Finding and repairing performance or security problems
- Understanding which resources visitors use
- Operating pages and keeping them responsive
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Pamlico County Criminal History does not build, store, or sell a database of personal criminal records. It publishes general directions to the Pamlico County sheriff, the Clerk of Superior Court, NCSBI, and the North Carolina Sex Offender and Public Protection Registry. Visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal profiles, and this operation is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the embedded search services. Their privacy terms, retention schedules, and sharing rules apply to information submitted through those tools. Those practices are beyond our control, so review the provider's policy before entering a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Pamlico County sheriff, North Carolina courts, state agencies, legal resources, or commercial search providers. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy policy governs. Review it before sharing personal details.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select ads. Their tracking is controlled by those providers.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be handled by:
- Advertising networks that place or measure ads
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and site performance
- Outside search providers that receive a submitted query
- A court or government authority acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used for information under our control. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, however, so an unauthorized access event cannot be ruled out.
Users Under 18
The service is intended for adults, and personal information is not knowingly collected from anyone under 18. If a minor's information is identified, a deletion request may be made through the published contact route.
Your Data Rights
Applicable privacy and consumer-protection law may provide added rights. North Carolina's Identity Theft Protection Act, Chapter 75 Article 2A, addresses covered personal information and security breaches. The Public Records Law, Chapter 132, including G.S. 132-1.4, separately governs public agency records and criminal investigative information. The Article 5A expunction statutes control access restrictions after qualifying court relief. None turns this private site into a government custodian. Subject to applicable law, a visitor can:
- Object to certain processing where the law permits it
- Request deletion of eligible information
- Ask to correct inaccurate information
- Request a copy of personal data held about them
